Mares Of The Past
Mares we have known, loved and appreciated in our past.
Some sold, some returned home after lease, two sadly
lost long before their time, but all very much adored.
Nyssa
Nyssa was a 15.2H Saddlebred/Percheron
cross. Nyssa is the Dam of Under The Son's
Super Bob and Under The Son's Elation. Bred
and trained  by Russ she was his driving
partner for several years. Not only was she a
very solid recreational driving horse she was
also quite adept at Combined Driving. Nyssa
was lost far too young when the COPD she
suffered her entire life finally got to be
debilitating. She is missed terribly, but lives
on through her two foals.
PR Martini
PR Martini was a 14.1H Russian Arabian. She is
the Dam of Under The Son's Amelia, UTS
Victorious and UTS Hosanna. I could go on
forever about this wonderful mare. My
dressage partner, favorite broodmare and
good friend. She passed her amazing
unflappable attitude on to all her offspring. In
addition to her gorgeous head she gave her
foals the most fantastic floating trot. She
developed COPD at the age of 15. We were
able to keep her going for another 2+ yrs but
realized we were losing the battle. I said a
tearful goodbye to her in the fall of 2003. She
is missed more than words can say, but lives
on in her superior fillies. We have retained
UTS Victorious for our own show string.
Victoria was site champion with the ASPR in
2002
UTS Jubilation
UTS Jubilation aka Julia is a 13H Welsh cross
pony. She is the Dam of UTS Wild Jubilee.
Though Julia has no fancy pedigree or show
record she does have the most winning
personality. She is probably the sweetest
little mare I've ever known. Julia is now
owned by Galen McBride of Rainbow's End
Farm in Culpeper VA. She was last bred to
Leah McFarlin's BF Oliver Twist  for a 2006
foal and we are all excited about that foal. If
money were never an issue, Julia would
have stayed on here forever. Our decision to
focus on purebred Welsh was the only
reason we moved her on. I am grateful to
Galen for giving Julia a wonderful home.
UTS Notdaprincess
UTS Notdaprincess is a 13.1 H Welsh/? cross.
She is the dam of Wonders Under The Son and
Irish Hills Wild Blackberry. How did she get
that name is the most usual question. We
bought her and her teammate from a friend of
ours who does some trading. He has trouble
remembering names. All he could remember is
that her teammate's name was Princess, but
he could not remember the other mares name.
We ended up saying one too many times... go
check on Princess and Not The Princess. The
name just stuck. We couldn't imagine her
named anything else. Upon inspection with the
ASPR we needed to shorten her name. She
became UTS Notdaprincess. Notda was sold in
foal to Lisa Dworkin of Sumpterville FL in 2003.
UTS Pik Pocket
UTS Pik Pocket is a 15.2H Saddlebred. She is
the dam of UTS Majesty aka Jessi. Snort, as
we called her was a lease from my dear
friend Kathie Rastad of Folly Lane Farm.
Snort has since gone back to Kathie  and on
to a new lease home. This mare is a
wonderful producer which considering her
humble beginnings is quite amazing.
Rescued from a feed lot and turned into an
open jumper, Snort has been enjoying her
"retirement" as a broodmare for the last
several years. Snort is welcome back here
any time. We have retained her filly for our
own show string. Jessi was site reserve
champion with the ASPR in 2003.
